QuaranClean Challenge Day 2 - Papers

Papers on Table

If I was a super hero, papers would be my kryptonite.

I have them everywhere… little piles, big piles, all around my house you can find papers of all kinds.

The amazing thing is what a huge difference it makes once you get them cleaned up! I spent a few extra minutes sorting papers in a client’s living room not too long ago. After throwing out the junk mail, I left an orderly stack of papers and an orderly stack of mail… and the room, with nothing else done to it, looked 50% cleaner. That job took me 10 minutes.

Today though, before I can even get to the papers… I have to have a clean space to work.

Honestly, there are days where looking at a kitchen table like this could completely zap any energy I have before I even get off the couch. But, I know it’s not as big of a job as my brain tells me it is.

So, the first thing I did was a Pre-Challenge Clean Up of the table…

Once the table was clean, gathering all the papers from everywhere in my house and sorting them into piles was the main task. After that it was as simple as delivering the piles to the people they belonged to, throwing away the huge pile of junk, and filing some things.

The most important thing is that you not get distracted by any one piece of paper. We’ve got to get it all sorted. Getting sidetracked is way too easy! Being mindful of it can help!

Got everything put where it goes?

Now open your calendar and schedule some time… 15 minutes per day… to work on that pile of things you need to get through. Bills that need paid, forms that need filled out, outdated things you need to look over one more time before throwing them in the trash, you’ll be through that pile in no time!

That’s it! You’ve completed your challenge!

We now have a QuaranClean Facebook Group where you can find all the challenges, including some Alternates (coming soon), post photos, and encourage others in this journey too!
